I have been the Mining Manager at both Pulacayo Mine, a silver, lead & zinc mine in Bolivia and at Kinaburi Gold in Northern Spain, and recently the Mining Operations Manager at El Mochito Zink, Lead and Silver mine in Honduras. One of my key responsibilities and strengths is to build an operations team from scratch and turn them into a safe and productive workforce. I have experience in narrow vein/reef gold mining, trackless board and pillar, trackless VCR and sub-level caving, long hole open stoping and conventional vertical shrinkage stoping. I have understanding of and am sensitive to the cultural dynamics found in many operational teams. Having worked in South Africa, Zambia, Bolivia, Spain and Honduras. Another one of my strengths is helping other team members gain that same understanding. I believe my ability to plan, budget, allocate resources and then execute in a timely fashion against the budget will most definitely be an advantage to your company. Accomplishments

  • Increased production at El Mochito from 40k tons to 65k tons per month in less than 12 months. Coached local line Supervisors and management in effectively planning, leading and controlling of their areas of responsibility.
  • Played a key role in the planning of a sub vertical shaft, and new pumping arrangements at El Mochito.
  • Consultant / Acting Mining Manager for Orvana Minerals on their Gold Mine in Spain on narrow vein mining viability.
  • Built a team from novices up to acceptable international operating standards in Bolivia across multiple disciplines including mining, geology, survey, safety and administrative personnel.
  • Built a team from very new, freshly trained people to an accomplished well-organized team, at Two Rivers Platinum Mine. By the time I left, the team were the best achievers, outperforming well established teams, increasing production from 12kt per fleet per month to over 40kt per month.
  • Start-up of the trackless section for the Synclinorium Project on Mopani Copper mines in Zambia.

INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

  • Within the last 18 years, I have had exposure to the international market, and have worked in Zambia, Bolivia, Spain and currently in Honduras.
  • My current employment is with Ascendant Resources, at their El Mochito Mine in Honduras as the Mining Operations Manager. It is a Zink, Lead and Silver Deposit with a production rate of 2200 t / day. Mining methods range from vertical shrinkage with handheld jacklegs, cut and fill, as well as long hole stoping.
  • Prior to working in Honduras, I managed my own Polyurea / Polyurethane Business for two years in Klerksdorp, South Africa.
  • After consulting on narrow vein mining for Orvana Gold Mine in Spain, I was offered the position as Acting Mining Manager. Orvana is a 2000t/day gold Mine in the Northern parts of Spain. Mining methods were Transverse Long Hole Stoping, Longitudinal Long Hole stoping and Cut and fill methods.
  • The Pulacayo Mine in Bolivia is a very old mine, established in the mid 1800’s. Apogee Silver bought the mine and I was employed as Mining Manager during the Pre-feasibility, Feasibility and Trial mining stages. Mineralized narrow veins were mined with vertical shrinkage method and conventional rail development.
