Technical manager in charge of the center of expertise for rigid flowline and riser in-place engineering for the group. Managing a team of approximately 15 engineers (software developers as well as rigid pipeline design engineers). The team objectives are developing numerical tools and engineering methods to be applied on actual projects, qualifying new products and services as well as providing general/bespoke project support.

The Rigid Flowline & Riser In-Place Engineering team activities typically include:

- Development of digital tools/platforms as well as methods/procedures for the simplification and standardization of flowline and riser in-place design process on actual projects,

- Development of simplified and standardized lateral buckling mitigation approaches/packages to be implemented on actual projects,

- Enhancement of hydrodynamic performance characterization of rigid riser ancillaries, VIV strakes & Distributed Buoyancy Modules (DBM), and associated implementation as part of rigid riser design approaches (i.e. vortex-induced vibration and interference),

- Being product owner (i.e. technical standpoint) for the following pipeline ancillaries: flexible joint, taper stress joint, VIV strake, DBM,

- Enhancement of the general understanding of flowline and riser in-service behavior and associated capacities,

- Follow-up of Joint Industry Projects (JIP) in which TechnipFMC is involved,

The team objectives included developing tools and engineering methods to be applied on actual projects, qualifying new products and services, and supporting the project team in the implementation of active heating technologies on actual subsea projects.

The Active Heating Technologies team activities typically included:

- Qualification of electrical/optical cable manufacturers and associated products,

- Qualification of electrical/optical components manufacturers and associate products (i.e. splices and star-ends),

- Qualification of electrical and optical double-barrier systems,

- Qualification of Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system suppliers and services,

- Qualification of Electrical Trace Heated Pipe-in-Pipe (ETH-PIP) ancillaries, such as centralizers and thermal insulation,

- Performing electrical and thermal design of ETH-PIP and/or Direct Electrical Heated (DEH) single pipe systems as part of pre-FEED/FEED or actual subsea project,

- Development of procurement specifications for topside electrical components, including transformers, switchgears, and junction boxes,

- Support to the VAR Energy Fenja project team for the delivery of the world's first 40km long ETH-PIP system, including design, fabrication, and installation topics/aspects,

- Development of the ETH-Blanket product and services along with the hydrate plug detection techniques based on non-intrusive methods,

TechnipFMC and Heerema Marine Contractor (HMC) formed a joint venture for the execution of the deepwater section of the field. The TechnipFMC/HMC joint venture entered in a consortium with Van Oord in charge of the execution of the shallow water pipeline sections.

The development of the technical proposal included a review and to propose modifications to simplify the field lay-out/subsea architecture, to deliver qualifications/exceptions to Company engineering specifications, to perform a set of flowline and riser design/engineering critical activities to firm up proposal price and/or remove risk, the development of pipelay vessel (rigid, flexible and umbilical) method statements, engineering/design method statements (rigid flowline, Lazy wave riser, engineering critical assessment, subsea structure & foundation) and pipeline fabrication method statement (parent pipe coating and spoolbase delivery). The development of commercial proposal included planning and pricing of the following key items: spoolbase scope (welding, NDE, FJC, plastic liner assembly), line pipe, parent pipe coating, buoyancy modules, strakes, subsea structure, flexible pipe and offshore operations.

Coordinating and working on the conceptual design of high potential novel free standing riser concepts, including: Rigid and flexible pipe design, in-place design (hydrodynamic & structural behavior), installation engineering (hydrodynamic & structural behavior), structural design and fabrication feasibility of large buoyancy can systems, installation procedures and development of case studies including planning and cost comparison analyses to demonstrate commercial viability/interest of the selected solutions.

Supervising a study to develop buoyancy cans made of composite materials for FSHR application. The objective being to allow installation of large FSHR with medium capacity pipelay vessels. The study included supervising the design of composite material buoyancy cans performed by the CETIM (Centre Technique des Industries Mecaniques), defining fabrication feasibility and developing associated methodologies, developing installation method statement and performing cost comparison analyses to demonstrate viability/interest of the proposed solution

Working on the in-place hydrodynamic stability of the Flat Buoy Free Standing Flexible Riser concept. Proposed riser solution based on low aspect ratio buoyancy can (i.e. typically an height over diameter ratio of 0.5) and a full flexible pipe solution for the dynamic jumper and the standing pipe section. Supervising an extensive computational fluid dynamic and fluid structure interaction studies involving three different software packages and a numerical simulation validation program included basin & wind tunnel test campaigns.

Supervising the rigid riser research and development program for the group from 2009 till 2011, with focus placed on general rigid riser configuration performance assessment, rigid riser hydrodynamic behavior characterization either via numerical simulation or basin tests, ancillaries design optimization for improved hydrodynamic or installation/construction performances.

Working on the definition of the Deep Energy pipelay vessel ramp dynamic amplification factors.

Development of the Horizontal Belly System to transfer the project pipelines from shore to the pipelay vessel while complying with the Dande site characteristics (open sea and extremely shallow water), Deep Blue vessel, and project rigid pipeline requirements. The world's first rigid pipe spooling system working in a dynamic environment. Working on the definition of the overall technical solution, design approach and methodology. Performing pipe loading analysis (dynamic & static) using ABAQUS finite element software to define system operability, Deep Blue up-grade specification, geotechnical & pipe support structural inputs. Developing pre & post-processor tools (Python & Excel-based) to ABAQUS finite element models. Defining and supervising the Deep Blue vessel mooring studies at Dande made by Principia: 55,000t displacement vessel anchored in shallow waters open sea (i.e. 12m water depth) on a 8 points spread mooring system, limiting the vessel surge excursions to +/-1.1m. Participating to the 70t shore tensioner definition and design. Definition and design follow-up of the Horizontal Belly System structural components. Follow-up & review of the pipe transfer procedures. Definition of the weather acceptance methodology & associated procedure. Definition of the overall spooling system commissioning procedure.

Close-up Dande spoolbase construction activities including, setting-up and commissioning of the pipe spooling equipment: shore tensioner, horizontal belly system equipment. Participating to the 5-off pipe spooling operations on the project. Supporting the Deep Blue pipelay operations as an installation analysis engineer for both rigid and flexible lines. Working as a project engineer onboard Deep Blue. Supervising the fabrication of rigid injection well jumpers at SONILS base Luanda. Working on the development of the overall subsea project finalization and completion dossiers and other project closing activities.
