- Conducted a study on the interactions between ferrous iron (Fe²⁺) and nitrites (NO₂⁻) as part of the FeNICS project at IPREM, under the supervision of Aubin Thibault de Chanvalon
- Monitored Fe²⁺ and NO₂⁻ concentrations in various buffer solutions at acidic and basic pH levels
- Utilized spectrophotometric absorbance to measure concentrations of nitrites, nitrates, and ferrous iron, ranging from 50 μM to 50 mM
- The results led to improved quantification of nitrites and nitrates, and for the first time, abiotic oxidation of nitrites was observed under different conditions, particularly in the presence of phosphates and ferrous iron
- Findings highlighted the crucial role of the buffer system in environmental samples and opened new avenues for further research.
