

Mikal Gilbert is a professional dancer with extensive training in ballet, modern, and contemporary movement styles. Mikal began his formal dance training at the Norfolk Academy under the tutelage of Elbert Watson and Patricia Sorrel at the age of 19. He later continued his dance studies at Marymount Manhattan College and was a level 1 scholarship recipient at The Ailey School Scholarship Program, attending intensives at top companies such as Alvin American Dance Theatre, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem and BalletX and was an inaugural member of Complexions’ Pre Professional Program in 2017. In the past Mikal has performed with and been a member of Koresh Dance Company, Dance Iquail and The Philadelphia Dance Company (Philadanco!), and has performed as a featured artist with projects like “Pantsuit Power” for Hilary (Presidential Campaign) Choreographed by Breton Tyner-Bryant, a guest artist with Arch Contemporary Ballet and Brendan Fernandes' "Returning to Before" at the Barnes Foundation, featured in The New York Times and Vogue Magazine. Mikal is currently a member of Alonzo King LINES Ballet.
