Management of the technical and engineering portfolio for a minerals sands dredge mine and dry separation plant.

The management of this portfolio includes safety, financial budgets and strategic planning (+10years).

Departments and functions under the control of the CTO includes:

1. Technical Services:

Geology, Exploration, Survey, Mine planning, Hydro Geology, Strategic planning, Mining and Production Schedules, NPV optimization.

2. Metallurgy and process engineering

Process Engineering, mineral recovery optimization, plant improvement projects, Laboratory test work and simulations, Geo metallurgy, Decarbonization projects, Mineral accounting (AMIRA code), Innovation projects.

3. Laboratory and ISO standards

Quality control, sampling plants, routine assaying, shipment certification, customer complaints and nonconformance management. ISO50001 (energy management), ISO17025 (laboratory), Other technical ISO standards.

4. Operational Excellence

Lean six sigma systems, Visual performance management, KPI setting, Value stream mapping, Production process standardization, Routine management, 5 S methodology, Root cause analysis, problem solving and mining improvement projects,

5. Digital systems and data governance

Data governance projects, Data Science, ArcGIS projects, Industrial IT projects, Application development, System Architecture development, Digital transformation projects, IT projects, Dashboarding, Industry 4.0

6. Asset management and engineering

Operational Capital Expense management, Project Engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical), EPCM contract management, improvement projects, reliability projects, construction and quality control, Engineering studies, Industrial risk projects, Reverse engineering projects.

• Set and oversaw quality assurance guidelines for laboratory work.
• Interviewed, hired and trained lab technicians to perform experiments and analyze results.
• Designed processes to increase efficiency by minimizing error and reducing repetitive tasks.
• Kept laboratory in compliance with applicable guidelines and laws.
• Ensure Mine and Dry separation plants achieve required mineral recovery targets
• Perform monthly mineral accounting balance to evaluate process efficiency
• Perform laboratory test work to improve process efficiencies
• Ensure sampling systems conform to applicable standards and best practices
• Implement process improvement projects.
• Actively participate in professional conferences to ensure best practices are implemented and foster a culture of continues improvement.

• Set up Laboratory and Sampling plant operations in remote mines with specific focus on Iron Ore mining.
• Train national staff on commercial and technical activities.
• Implement quality , safety and environmental protocols that adheres to ISO standards and best practices.
• Perform inspection and audit activities
• Manage in country operation activities which includes business development and expanding current operation
• Overall financial and human resource management
