Ak Mohd Amin Iskandar Pg Hj Sulaiman

I am a Diplomat with over 13 years of experience in the government sector. I started my career at the Foreign Ministry in the ASEAN Department and was fortunate to be part of the ASEAN BD team for the Brunei Darussalam ASEAN Chairmanship in 2013.

During my mission in Manila, among others, i had the opportunity of working together with the Department of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Department of Trade and Industry, Government of the Republic of the Philippines and Malacanang Palace for the Philippines APEC Chairmanship (2015), and ASEAN Chairmanship (2017) as well as other VVIP visits from BD to the Philippines.

Following my assignment in Manila, i was placed in the Department of East Asia and assigned the Philippines desk, mostly because i wanted to see how the then Duterte administration would continue its work and their foreign policy courses in relation to the SCS/WPS, its relations with the US and Russia.

While in the DEA, i was given the opportunity to cover the post of Acting First Secretary/Assistant Director on several occasions. I was also nominated to lead BD's delegation to the 75 session of UN General Assembly in 2020 (Due to COVID-19, BD's delegation did not travel to New York and instead worked in ICC via Zoom, Monday to Fridays 8pm to 1030am.)

In July 2021, i started my assignment at the Embassy of BD in Moscow, Russian Federation. In Russia, i had the opportunity to lead the Embassy of BD during Russia's SVO in Ukraine which resulted in sanctions. The sanctions created challenges for the Embassy operations, especially the financial side as Russia was disconnected from the SWIFT international payment system. (Embassy couldn't receive any money from BD).

Accomplishments in the Philippines

• Carried out a variety of duties (protocol and substantive) as Second Secretary of the BD Embassy during State Visits of His Majesty the Sultan to the Philippines in November 2015, April 2017 and November 2017;
• Performed a variety of roles during the visits of HRH Prince Mateen, HRH Princess Azemah to Manila in 2015,2016,2017,2018;




Accomplishments in the DEA

• Became Liaison Officer for a visiting Chechen delegation to BD
• Instructed to carry out tasks as Acting Assistant Director
• Led the BD delegation for the 75th Session of the UNGA in 2020 (Online Zoom Night shift 8pm - 1030am Mon - Friday)
• Focal point for the Department for collection of Dates for Ramadhan
